Torsion Testing Machine consists of two independent chucks where, the specimen can be placed one of which is rotated by electric motor and the speed is reduced through suitable reduction gear. The twist is communicate through the test piece to the other jaw o which a weighted pendulum attached. The resistance to deflection of pendulum caused a torque to be applied to the test pipe and the angles of deflection of pendulum is the mesure of Torque. A scale with pointer is fixed on the frame, which enables measurement of torque. The machine is built for maximum twisting movement at about 50 kgm. It is equipped with jaws for accommodating test pieces of 10 mm, 20mm size either square or circular with square shoulders. The machine can be operated by hand in case of powder failure suitable of 440 V. A..C. single phase.

The number of twists required of fracture a wire sample can be determined rapidly with this machine. The standard machine consists of three speed gear box coupled with a motor to give output of 30,60 90 rpm. A revolution counter indicates the fails. The distance between the rotating and non-rotating chuck can be altered between 1-500mm length. The wire is held in between these two chucks. The wires from 1 to 10mm can be tested with this machine. Torsion Testing Machine is designed for conducting Torsion and twist tests on various metal wires, tubes, sheet materials. Torque measurement is by Pendulam Dynameter System. Torque ranges can be adjusted. Torque can be applied to specimen by geared motor through gearbox. Autographic recorder can be provided to know relation between torque and angle of twist on specific request.
